Choosing a diamond beyond carat weight

A considered look at light, proportion and personal preference.

Weight is only the beginning

Carat measures weight rather than visible dimensions. Two diamonds of equal weight can appear different in size because of shape and proportions. Look at measurements alongside carat and consider how a setting frames the stone.

Bring the 4Cs together

Cut, color and clarity should be considered as a whole. Grading reports provide observations, but do not replace understanding how a stone looks in different lighting. Laboratory origin and any treatments should be disclosed.

Make it personal

Start with daily life and your preferred silhouette. A comfortable setting and a shape you love may matter more than the largest number. Request the complete specification before approval.
